May and Mark Cafe: Weirdest Restaurant in Thailand?

Restaurant Name: May and Mark Cafe

This place defies explanation - it is a culinary schizoid mutant!

Welcome to May and Mark's...

A few years back a Thai couple decided to set up a restaurant and decided to name it after their children - May and Mark.

They started out by selling pre cooked and pre prepared Thai curries at about the time that Krabi appeared on the tourist radar. They saw tourists walk past their cafe, but never coming in. Anxious to tap into this potentially lucrative market they decided to find out why from tourists at the modest guesthouse they had also branched out to.

Staying there was a New Zealander who explained that westerners didn't usually like pre cooked food in that manner, which was probably why they never stopped. As he was staying for a while, he offered to teach them how to bake bread western style, including sourdough bread and a flourishing sideline was born (some of life's coincidences are positively mindblowing!)...

Tourists homesick for familiar foods some began flocking to this unorthodox baking enclave and in the spirit of the Global Village, many more recipes and dishes were explained by these grateful folk from around the world...!

Now May and Mark's boasts an eclectic menu of Thai, Mexican, Indian, German, Swedish and Swiss dishes, as well as the best bread in town courtesy of a New Zealander!

Come and enjoy world cuisine at its finest - why not teach them a recipe also!

Favorite Dish: We had some lovely Sourdough and Bavarian bread, perhaps it was because we hadn't had it for so long, but it was mighty fine!

Also the fresh fruit juices were fantastic...
